A Late Summer Wedding at Meadow Ridge Farm

Chris and Nicole’s wedding at Meadow Ridge Farm was a particularly special day for us as photographers.  We first got to know Chris when he was transitioning out of photographing weddings himself into filming weddings.  We worked along side each other for several weddings and discovered that we work very well together and we started referring each other whenever clients would ask for a recommendation.  As Chris and Nicole’s dating relationship became more serious, Nicole starting working with Chris at weddings and get to know her as well.  Chris mentioned quite a while ago that when the time comes, he’d want us to photograph their wedding.  We took it as a great compliment but I kind of assumed it was one of those empty “hey, we should get lunch sometime” sort of things.  Low and behold, he proposed, and they called us!  We were so pumped that we were still available and that everything worked out for us to be there.  Chris and Nicole also hired our mutual friends, Scott and Carla from Candy Apple Films to film the wedding.  We aren’t often outnumbered buy videographers but I think we managed to hold our gourd!  It really was a fun and relaxed time with friends and the shared creative energy and enthusiasm between us, Chris and Nicole and Scott and Carla was so great to be a part of.

Nicole and Chris both started their day at their parent’s houses just a few miles away from the farms.  We love the layer of personal context that this adds to the coverage and we think it makes the moments and interactions between their bridal party and their families so much more meaningful.  At the farm, we found the perfect first look location, then we had all the time we needed to explore and create.  Chris has witnessed us with our backs against the wall and the photographic cards stacked against us more than once and I could the he was going to be certain that wasn’t going to be the case at their wedding.  It was a stunningly beautiful day at a gorgeous location and with happy, excited, and willing subjects.  Not just Chris and Nicole but bridal party and family as well.  As photographers, you really can’t ask for much more than that.

I think the most memorable part of the day was the intro into the reception.  I’m not sure it really needs any explanation.  You’ll see exactly what I’m referring to in the images below.

Chris and Nicole; we are so honored that we were a part of your day; it really did feel like a fun day among friends.  We really can’t thank you enough.

A horse grazes in a sunlit pasture surrounded by lush green trees, with a white fence and a small barn in the background under a partly cloudy sky near Canton. An elegant beige wedding dress with a lace bodice and soft, flowing skirt, hanging from a sturdy pine branch surrounded by green needles, perfect for a Cleveland ceremony. A touching moment where a woman covers her mouth in surprise and joy as two men show her a framed artistic print. They are in a warmly lit dining room in Cleveland. A joyful bride in a plaid shirt gets her hair styled in Cleveland, laughing as she looks away from a mirror that reflects the hands of her hairstylist. The monochrome photo captures a candid, happy moment. A groom in a blue suit adjusts his hair in a mirror inside a warmly lit room, reflected sunlight streaming in through the window, creating a serene atmosphere for his Cleveland wedding. Black and white photo of an older man adjusting a younger man's tie at a reception in Canton, both smiling joyfully at each other in a moment of connection. Four men in a dimly lit room in Cleveland, preparing for a formal ceremony. Two are adjusting their jackets, one is buttoning his shirt, and the last is talking on the phone. They appear jovial and relaxed. A woman in a plaid shirt smiles while getting her makeup done for a ceremony, as seen through a window reflecting a lush green landscape. A couple in evening attire embraces in a warmly-lit doorway, surrounded by a dark, blue-toned exterior. They stand in a moment of intimacy following a ceremony in a serene night setting. A traditional white house with a central pediment and symmetrical windows, surrounded by green trees and a lawn in Canton, with people walking out of the front door.
