Our Story

How a friendship that began across an ocean became a life and a calling built around photographs that matter.

Chapter One

A Friendship That Became Everything

Even though Genevieve grew up in France and James grew up in Ohio, we’ve known each other for almost our entire lives. Our parents were close friends throughout our childhood, and our families would get together whenever Genevieve’s family traveled back to Ohio to visit relatives. We even exchanged letters as kids, old-fashioned pen pal notes, because James’s mom thought it would be fun to have French pen pals. Those letters may still be hiding in a bin somewhere, waiting to be rediscovered.

Our teenage years passed with little contact until Genevieve enrolled at Kent State University, where she discovered photography for the first time in a black-and-white film class. Around the same time, James was working as an electronics technician and playing guitar in a band with his brother on the weekends.

Near the end of her final year at Kent, we crossed paths when James visited the church Genevieve was attending. We recognized each other immediately, started catching up, and James invited her to a club gig that weekend. We quickly hit it off, and our families had us practically married before we’d even officially started dating. We were engaged within a year and married six months after that.

Chapter Two

A Creative Partnership Takes Shape

Genevieve’s love of black-and-white fine art photography flourished as we dated. Her work was displayed in solo and multi-artist gallery shows throughout Northeast Ohio, and it caught the eye of several friends who were planning their own weddings. They wanted something different: something documentary and artistic. Genevieve offered to photograph their day in a style that was nearly unheard of at the time.

Word spread quickly, and the requests kept coming. Genevieve had a strong creative vision, but it became clear she needed support on the technical side: researching cameras, lenses, and lighting equipment. James’s involvement in the business began out of a desire to help her make those decisions well. That deep dive sparked something: the same creative energy he’d always put into music started flowing into photography.

We each brought something the other needed. Genevieve helped James develop his eye and his instincts; James helped Genevieve bring her vision to life with the tools to match it. By the start of 2004, we were photographing weddings together as a husband-and-wife team, and it has been that way ever since.

A couple poses on a white stone structure, with the iconic blue-domed buildings and whitewashed architecture of Santorini, Greece, in the background. The groom is dressed in a patterned shirt and brown pants, while his bride stuns in a black dress and sandals—perfect for whimsical wedding portraits.
Four people stand closely together smiling on a grassy hillside, surrounded by lush green mountains and pine trees. Wedding photographers capture their joy beneath a clear sky, with distant peaks providing a breathtaking backdrop.
Chapter Three

Building a Life Alongside the Work

By 2005, we were shooting as many as 40 weddings a year. Genevieve was in the business full time, while James was still working his technical job, taking classes toward a mechanical engineering degree, and shooting with her every weekend. Our daughter Rochelle was born in early 2006, and when we found out later that year we were expecting again, something had to give.

James resigned from his technical job in 2007 to join Genevieve full time. Our son Ezra rounded out our family not long after, and we found a rhythm of life and of work that we’re genuinely grateful for.

In the years since, we’ve photographed over 500 weddings all across the country, and we’ve cherished every opportunity to share in those celebrations with couples who trusted us with something irreplaceable.

Twenty years & counting

We’d Love to Hear Your Story

We got into this work because we love people, we love creativity, and we believe that the photographs from your wedding day matter long after the flowers have faded. That conviction hasn’t changed; if anything, it’s only deepened. If you’re looking for a team that will show up fully, love your day alongside you, and make images that last, we’d be honored to be your photographers.
