The journey to Melissa and Chuck’s wedding at The Inn at Honey Run took us twenty miles outside of cell phone service, past more horse drawn buggies and dairy farms than we could count, and into the heart of Ohio’s Amish Country. Even though Melissa and Chuck generally came from the same area that we did, I think the trip was absolutely worth it for everyone.
Melissa and Chuck’s Catholic tradition brought us to St. Peter Parish, the only Catholic church in all of Millersburg, then it was to the great outdoors for the whole rest of the day. Genevieve found a quaint spot near the Inn with a barn, a porch swing hanging from a willow tree, and other features that made it perfect for the theme of the day.
After that, it was off to the Inn for what might have been the most beautiful reception setting we’ve seen since we started shooting weddings: two long, eighty seat tables with a dance floor in between, in a grassy grove surrounded by tall trees, under nothing but a string of lights and the big blue sky overhead. It’s a gutsy move to plan an outdoor reception in Ohio without a tent, but it totally paid off. Take a look for yourself below.
