Evan and Katie’s wedding this past Sunday turned out to be a historic event for not only the Cleveland Museum of Art, but a historic event for Cleveland weddings in general. While countless brides and bridal parties have had their wedding photos taken around the art museum and nearby Wade Lagoon, Evan and Katie’s ceremony and reception were the very first to ever take place at the museum itself. The ceremony took place on the South Terrace while cocktail hour and reception took place in the brand new atrium which connects the original 1916 structure to the new East and West wings.
While the setting for the day was pretty spectacular, what really made the day special was the people involved. Evan and Katie were wonderful to work with and be around and it was an absolutely pleasure getting to know their families. Bob, I didn’t forget about our conversation that took place right before the Ketubah signing and I’d be happy to sit down with you for an afternoon and answer whatever questions you can come up with about photography.
Planning the very first wedding at such a complex and tightly secured location is no small matter but Heidi of Heidzillas, the MOB JoAnn, and Sherri Shultz from the museum pulled it off spectacularly. Michael Day of Flowerville did an exceptional job with the floral design and Bon Appetit provided world class hors d’oeuvres and entrees for the guests.
Alright, enough talk. I know you’re just here for the photos, so we’ll start off with a collection of Genevieve’s favorites:

Great job, the images look amazing. Love the outside shots as well as the stair well ones. The CMA and couple will love them!
Great pictures and wonderful idea. I’m so curious of price??? Like an estimate of what it may cost to have a wedding there…again beautiful wedding.
What an event! Photography was great and really took advantage of this unique location especially all the shots using soft focus foreground elements, directing attention on to the newlyweds. Setups like the exterior grounds blurry bushes leading the eye-line directly to the beautiful couple. Well done!
