A Summer Wedding at the Cleveland Museum of Art

Mark and Amanda’s wedding at the Cleveland Museum of Art was a stunningly elegant affair from start to finish.  Amanda, along with the help of Kirkbrides Wedding Planning and Blooms by Plantscaping, imagined and executed every element of the day from the little things like jewelry and stationary all the way to the grand such as floral decor and reception lighting.

While the planning and the details of the day went great, it was the people involved who really made it special.  Mark’s boisterous, outgoing nature and Amanda’s strong, quiet confidence are perfect balances for each other and we thoroughly enjoying documenting their chemistry.  These traits seemed to somewhat run in their families which made for some very touching and down right hilarious moments during the toasts and speeches at the reception.

Mark and Amanda began their day with their bridal party at the Hilton Downtown. We have really come to enjoy shooting at the new Hilton.  The natural light is beautiful and the decor quite tastefully appointed.  Mark and Amanda shared a private first look on the mezzanine floor before we all jumped into the limo to head over to the Art Museum for portraits and group photos with the bridal party.  Mark and Amanda are complete naturals in front of the camera and required very little direction from us.  We made our way across Wade Lagoon stoping here and there where the light and surroundings combined for beautiful photos, ending at the south entrance to the museum.

The clouds never really made good on their threat of rain but the threat was real enough that the ceremony location was brought inside the atrium instead of out on the south terrace.  This might have been plan B, but it’s a really great plan B none the less.  The ceremony flowed right into cocktail hour, followed by dinner and dancing in the atrium.  If the dance floor was any indication, everyone had an amazing evening, and we where so glad to be a part of it.

Mark and Amanda – congratulations and thank you for making us a part of your day!  Below are just some of our favorite moments from your wedding.  Lots more to come!

A wedding dress hangs in front of a large window with a cityscape view, subtly framed by a blurred foreground of modern circular light fixtures at the reception. A man in a white shirt adjusts his cuffs by a window under a modern chandelier with glowing orbs as natural light fills the room, preparing for his wedding ceremony in Cleveland. An older man adjusts a younger man's bow tie in front of a window with sheer curtains at a reception. Both are dressed in formal white shirts and appear focused on the task. Black and white wedding image showing one man adjusting another man's black bow tie, focusing on their hands and upper attire, with a soft-focus background. A bride in a lace dress and an older woman in a purple lace dress smile joyfully at each other in a warmly lit room during a wedding ceremony, sharing a happy moment. A joyful bride in a white dress interacts with an older woman in a lace outfit by a window with sheer curtains during a ceremony. They are smiling and holding hands, showing excitement and affection. A group of bridesmaids in green dresses laughing together in a room, holding bouquets. They are watching a bride in white entering the room, seen from behind at a Cleveland wedding. A joyful young girl with braces laughs while shedding a tear, holding a flower, in a candid black and white photo taken at a ceremony. Her gaze is directed towards someone out of frame. A well-dressed couple holding hands, smiling at each other, with large windows and a city skyline in the background during their wedding ceremony. A bride and groom holding hands and gazing into each other’s eyes, standing indoors near a large window in Akron. The bride wears a long lace wedding dress and the groom is in a dark suit.
