Over the last ten years we have had the opportunity to photograph weddings at many of Cleveland’s top locations for ceremonies and receptions and we would like to start telling you about them in a little more detail!
One of our favorite locations that we seem to find ourselves at several times a year is The Union Club on Cleveland’s historic Euclid Avenue. Ideally located in Downtown Cleveland just twelve blocks from Public Square and in the heart of Cleveland’s Playhouse Square, it is a perfect destination for a Downtown Cleveland wedding. The one hundred year history of the building and of the Club itself seems to just ooze out of the walls and there many interesting facets and locations throughout the facility that can be used throughout the day for various wedding events.
While The Union Club does provide several rooms of four star accommodations on the fourth floor, the Wyndham Cleveland at Playhouse Square is literally right across the street for any out of town guests or guests who simply don’t want to jump in a car after an enjoyable evening.
One of the benefits of having your reception at the Union Club is the quality of the staff. While many locations seem to have a fairly high turnover rate in the catering department, we have seen the same friendly faces serving drinks, waiting tables, and keeping things running smoothly for years. This might seem like a small consideration but it’s one of those little things that makes a big difference in the overall experience. We’ve had the pleasure of getting to know Scott Spencer, the Associate Manager, over the years and it’s plain to see that he works very hard for his couples and cares deeply about how the evening turns out.
Another great benefit of having your reception at The Union Club is that there are plenty of interesting and unique photo locations within the building that can be put to use for your photography. The lobby, library and the grand staircase all offer a great deal of variety and opportunity for some fantastic images with very timeless and classic feel.
The following images were taking in the library on the first floor.
The grand staircase.
The entrance off of East 12th.
The ballroom on the third floor can also serve as a fantastic location for a ceremony. After the ceremony, the guests all went to the first floor while the staff converted the room for the reception.
The first floor is a great space for cocktail hour with a great flow between the lobby, bar area, and library.
The ballroom on the third floor makes for an ideal room for a classic, beautiful reception. High ceilings, gorgeous woodwork, chandeliers, and tall windows all help bring you back to a bygone era. The ambiance combined with the fantastic catering menu provided by The Union Club staff make this one of the best spots in Cleveland for a formal dinner reception.
If you are interested in planning a wedding ceremony or reception at The Union Club, a good place to start would probably be their inquiry page to get more detailed information about their offerings. We’ve had great experiences there as photographers and from what we have been told, our brides have had great experiences there as well.
Gorgeous! The dark lighting (is that a paradox?) creates a beautiful, intimate, and unique atmosphere.
