Amanda & Richard

On the morning of Amanda and Richard’s wedding, we got to do something that we don’t typically get to do on wedding days; get on the highway and drive south.  We drove south past the point where the cities and suburban development gave way to hills and farmland to Strasburg, Ohio. Strasburg is on the edge of Ohio’s Amish Country and where Amanda, Richard, and their families call home.  Amanda and Richard made their wedding day preparations just a block away from each other with Amanda at her mom’s house and Richard and Amanda and Richard’s house.  After the first look on their front porch, we made our way up the hill to Richard’s mom’s house which gave us some spectacular views from the back yard overlooking the valley just to the south.  Richard pulled the side by side out which allowed us to shoot under the solitary oak tree which might have been just a touch too far otherwise, considering the heat index was flirting with 100 degrees that day.

The ceremony took place at St. John’s United Church of Christ where Amanda and her family have attended since before she can remember.  More than one family wedding has taken place there which made it that much more special for Amanda.  After the ceremony, we made our way over to The Rustic Ridge Wedding Barn in New Philadelphia.  This is a relatively new venue with some fantastic photo spots like a vintage pickup truck and an outdoor fireplace which neither of us could help shooting through.  The barbecue was fantastic, the dance floor was grooving and everyone seemed to have a genuinely good time.

Amanda and Richard – we had so much fun with you two and you and your families made us feel so warmly welcomed and at home.  We can’t wait to show you everything that we have in store for you but here are a few of our favorites in the meantime!
