Joe & Courtney

A Fall Wedding at The Hilton Downtown Cleveland

If laughter is really is the best medicine, then I think Joe and Courtney are going to be quite healthy for some time to come.  We are used to having minor aches and pains after a wedding from the physical demands of the day but sore stomach muscles from laughing so much is a new one on us.  From Joe’s poetic roasts of his groomsmen, to bridal party antics at the park and one epic rap about Joe and Courtney at the reception, it was clear that laughter is how Joe and Courtney show and share affection with those closest to them.

Genevieve met up with Courtney and her bridesmaids in the morning for hair and makeup at the Hilton while I rendezvoused with the guys at Joe and Courtney’s apartment.  After Joe’s jaw dropping round of roasts mentioned above, everyone suited up and we snuck out to the rooftop of the apartment for some epic photos of Joe and his buddies with the Cleveland skyline.

After a beautiful ceremony at St. Elizabeth’s, we made our way to Horseshoe Lake Park in Shaker Heights for portraits with the bridal party.  We had never been to Horseshoe Lake Park before so we had a blast scouring around the park finding spots to shoot.  The late afternoon light streamed in from the west creating some stunning light to shoot in.  Joe and his groomsmen had some “interesting” ideas for photos, one of which will probably become my signature groomsmen pose.  We’ll save that one for later.  We wouldn’t want anyone stealing that idea.

The day ended with an elegant reception back at the Hilton filled with more laughter, fun, toasts, roasts, a rap, and lots and lots of dancing.  We had a ton of fun mixing it up on the dance floor, and as you can see below, their guests didn’t hesitate to join in the fun.

Joe and Courtney – we had so much fun with you guys!  Thank you so much for making us a part of your day and we are super excited about what we captured for you guys.  Here’s just a few of our favorites from what is to come.  Enjoy!

A group of men laugh and enjoy themselves at a casual indoor reception, with one reading from a sheet of paper and others holding drinks, set against a backdrop of exposed ductwork and warm lighting. A vintage pocket watch with a white face and Roman numerals, housed in a brown leather case with a strap, placed on a wooden surface next to a gold wedding chain. A close-up of two dark blue high-heeled shoes with elaborate sparkling rhinestone embellishments, each adorned with a wedding ring placed on the decoration, perfect for a Cleveland ceremony. A man in a white shirt and suspenders adjusts his attire while another man in the background arranges his suit in a dimly lit room with pendant lighting during a wedding ceremony. Black and white image of two hands during a ceremony, one placing a wedding ring on the finger of the other, highlighting the gentle touch and emotional significance of the moment. A close-up image of a man in formal attire, adjusting his black suspenders at a wedding ceremony. The focus is on his hands and the suspenders, with a softly blurred background. Six women in matching blue pajamas laughing and sitting together on a bed in a well-lit room during a wedding sleepover. They appear joyful and are engaging in a light-hearted moment. A man in a white shirt and tie is reflected in a mirror as he fixes his tie, standing in a warmly lit room with decorative items on shelving, preparing for a reception. A woman applying lipstick, using a mirror for precision, focused on achieving perfect lip contour. The reflection creates a dual image effect, emphasizing makeup detail for the ceremony. A close-up photo of a smiling woman with blonde hair, bathed in soft, warm lighting that creates a serene mood. She's looking downwards in a reflective moment at her wedding.
